It’s the little things. . .
They say it’s the little things that matter, that myriad of small things combined along the way are what actually make the big things important. I agree but from time to time I also get caught up aiming for those “big things” and I forget to enjoy the moment, revel in the details, and soak up my time with the little things. That is one reason I continue to work with flowers - they invite me to slow down and spend time with them. Plants do that too, wether it’s repotting a plant that has slowly outgrown it’s old home, or finding that perfectly perfect pot for that one little Pathos.
In my work one of the details I absolutely love paying attention to are the vessels I handpick for each and every event, arrangement, plant, terrarium, and business. Pots and vases are such an important small detail of the overall build, they literally carry the design and frame it like the art it is. Sometimes you can use the vessel to create a dynamic contrast or you can look for the perfect pairing that makes it seem like the vase and the flowers simply came that way.
The art of building a floral arrangment and delivering to the recipient is full of all the little details - and I’m here for all of them. Perhaps it’s a good week to surprise someone you know with an unexpected gift of flowers, no reason, just a way to send them a little something . . . to remind them of the little things. Maybe that someone is yourself!
Blue buttons are my daily reminder that it really is the little things that can matter the most.
